Aspire Design & Home McLean Showhouse

Aspire Design & Home Magazine sponsored a beautiful showhouse in McLean, Virginia in September, 2020. This custom home was designed by Architects, Harrison Design and built by Artisan Builders. We were honored to be asked to design the dining room of this magnificent home. The dining room featured a 21 foot barrel ceiling with a beautiful wainscot design. While visually stunning, this tall ceiling presents a challenge when trying to create a more intimate dining experience. My design plan for this space was inspired by a recent trip to Spain. The vibrant colors and intricate patterns were reminiscent of Antoni Gaudi’s beautiful mosaic works found in Barcelona. We visualized this dining room as a sophisticated private supper club on the coast of Spain. The room has two large niches on each side, so we used one niche to create a sophisticated bar side for cocktail before dinner. The other niche holds the dining table with a cozy banquette to create a more private dining area. The amazing wallpaper designed by artist, Amanda Moody, created a dramatic conversation piece. This space was featured in Aspire Design & Home’s special Showhouse Edition in April 2021.
